ようするに、「学校で教わっていない」と言い張っている人たちは、サリー・ブラウン(スヌーピーの飼い主である、チャーリー・ブラウンの妹)と同じなんだ。

サリーちゃんは学校で当てられたら 正しく答えられなくちゃいけない と思い込んでいる。学校は教わる場所なのではなく、答える場所。なので、彼女はいつも指されないように、指されたらどこかに答が無いか、探し続けている。彼女は、質問が 「実は、質問の形をした知識の伝授」 だと思ってはいない。だから、質問が通りすぎると、その内容も、なぜそれを問われたのかも、考えることなく、丸ごと頭から放り投げる。

で、その状態が何度もオチになっている。

ほとんどの場合、教育において最初に出す問題は「正しく解かれることを前提にしていない」。あれは、これから教えることがいかに素晴らしいことか、それを理解してもらうために存在する。つまり 解けなかった問題 が 解ける問題 に変わったことを確認するために、わざと「解けない問題」を提示するのだ。

この文法を理解しているのと、いないのとでは、授業で得られる知識量が桁違いだ

ある一定の数字の操作方法を教わるだけで終わるのか、そもそもそのような操作方法はなんのために存在するのかを理解するのか、では教わったことを応用出来る幅がぜんぜん違う。

なお、この「授業の文法」は誰にも教わらないと思う。私は教わらなかった。
